Happy snaps

To take a photograph is the participate in another persons mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time's relentless melt.

Happy Snaps , an ongoing series that speaks to my fascination with the 'family photograph', where uncanny and nostalgic sensations often converge.  Using found photographs as a source material, these images are reimagined, often in an exaggerated colour palette, facial features are obscured or distorted, with a gaze that meets the viewer. These images intend to live somewhere between the grotesque and idealised.
